An elderly traveler walking peacefully through a beautiful forest path carrying a bag and wooden staff.

There was once a kind-hearted priest (Panditji).

One day, he set out to visit another village. As he walked, he passed through a forest.

There, he saw a lion trapped inside a cage.

The lion saw him and pleaded, “O kind Panditji! Please set me free from this cage. I will give you a bag full of gold coins.”

Panditji thought, “A bag full of gold coins! Wow, my fortune has arrived.” Without thinking much, he opened the cage and released the lion.

As soon as the lion came out, he said, “I am very hungry. Now I will eat you.”

Panditji was terrified. He said, “This is unfair!” But the lion replied, “No, I will eat you.”

Just then, a fox came by. Panditji explained everything and requested the fox to give a fair judgment.

The fox said, “It’s difficult to decide without understanding properly. Show me where the lion was and where you were.”

Hearing this, the lion jumped back into the cage and said, “I was standing here.”

Panditji explained how he had released the lion.

The fox then went near the cage, quickly shut the door, and said, “O King Lion, the door was closed like this when you were inside, right?”

The lion replied, “Yes.”

The fox then said, “Panditji, now you may go. Even after your kindness, the lion was ready to kill you. So, it is better that the lion remains in the cage.”

Saying this, the fox walked away into the forest.

In this way, Panditji was saved from the trouble he had created by acting without thinking.

🌟 Powerful Lesson for Kids

1. Kindness should be guided by wisdom.

Helping others is a good thing, but we should always think carefully before taking action.

2. Never trust promises blindly.

The lion promised a reward but broke his word. Always judge people by their actions, not just their words.

3. Intelligence is stronger than strength.

The fox did not fight the lion. Instead, it used clever thinking to solve the problem and save a life.

4. Think before you act.

Panditji acted quickly because he was tempted by gold. A few moments of careful thinking can prevent big problems later.

5. Good judgment is a valuable life skill.

Being able to understand a situation and make wise decisions is just as important as being kind or brave.
