1)Thanjavur Palace
South India is world famous for its magnificent temples and palaces.
Among the many ancient and magnificent palaces, Thanjavur Palace in Tamil Nadu is distinguished by its blend of Maratha and Chaul styles. Thanjavur was an ancient kingdom of the seventh century. The Thanjavur Palace, built by the Maratha rulers in 1500 AD, has a six-storey tower and a court hall. It is known for the occasional paintings of Ramayana on the walls of Durbar Hall and the magnificent corridor. The size can be seen from the top of the tower.
Today the palace is turned into a library, museum and art gallery. The museum displays costumes, weapons and crowns of former rulers. It is worth seeing the entire library written on the tarpaulin. The manuscripts written on the tarpaulin in the library are found only here. In the court hall there are hexagonal shaped columns. There are sculptures and paintings of various deities on the walls and ceiling. The palace is a center of attraction for tourists heading to Tamil Nadu, where colors are used extensively in the decoration of the Durbar Hall.
2) Mahabodhi Temple
The temples built in ancient times in India are still famous as pilgrimage sites. The Mahabodhi Temple in Gaya, Bihar is also dedicated to Lord Buddha two thousand years ago. Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree at this place. Later, Emperor Ashoka built a magnificent temple at this place. This is a pilgrimage destination for Buddhists.
This temple is considered to be the oldest temple built of bricks. The main tower of the temple is 55 meters high. It was repaired in the 19th century. The temples with small peaks at the four corners around the main temple are built in the Gupta dynasty. Hindu gods and goddesses, elephants, sun and other religious symbols are carved on the revolving walls of this temple.
