The Mountain of Sand

Pip was a very small ant who lived near a giant playground. All his friends wanted to build a beautiful, tall sandcastle before the sun went down. Pip looked up at the huge pile of golden sand and then looked down at his tiny legs. The hill looked like a giant mountain, and he wondered how a tiny ant like him could ever help build something so big.

One Grain at a Time

Instead of looking at the whole giant hill, Pip decided to focus on just one tiny thing. He walked over to the pile, picked up a single, shiny grain of sand with his little jaws, and carried it to the building spot. He dropped it neatly and said, “There! That is my start.” His friends laughed and played, but Pip just smiled and walked back for another grain.

The Busy Afternoon

The afternoon grew very warm, and many of the bigger ants got tired of running up and down. They stopped to rest in the shade of a large leaf. But Pip kept going. Walk, pick up, carry, drop. Walk, pick up, carry, drop. To the birds flying high in the sky, Pip looked totally invisible. But on the ground, his tiny pile of sand was quietly growing bigger and bigger.

The Beautiful Castle

Just before sunset, the other ants woke up from their nap. They rubbed their eyes and gasped in surprise! Right where Pip had been working stood a beautiful, smooth sandcastle with perfect little walls. Pip hadn’t lifted a giant heavy rock or done anything magical. He had simply kept moving his tiny grains of sand, and all together, they had made a masterpiece.

The Ant’s Wisdom

The bright moon came up, and the ant family cheered for Pip. The little ant smiled happily and rested his tired feet. He knew that you do not need to be big or strong to do great things. You just need to keep taking small, happy steps forward.

THE ANT'S WISDOM

“No job is too big when you break it into small steps.

One tiny choice to keep trying can build a giant hill

of success!”
