What Is True Success? The Story of Aman
What does success really mean? Is it a secure job, a good salary, and respect in society?Or is it finding work that gives your life meaning and helps others?Aman’s story offers a powerful answer.Chasing a Dream. Aman was an ordinary young man from a middle-class family. Like many students, he believed that getting a government job would solve all his problems.
He studied hard, moved to a coaching city, and spent years preparing for competitive exams. But the results never went his way.
One year became two. Two became four. While his friends got selected and moved ahead, Aman remained stuck in the same cycle of preparation and disappointment.
A Question That Changed Everything. One day after another failure, Aman met an old teacher.
Listening to his struggles, the teacher asked: “If you get this job tomorrow, will it truly make you happy?”
The question surprised Aman. He had spent years chasing success without ever asking himself what he really wanted. The teacher then shared a verse from the Bhagavad Gita:
“श्रेयान् स्वधर्मो विगुणः परधर्मात्स्वनुष्ठितात्।
स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेयः परधर्मो भयावहः॥”
He explained:
“It is better to follow your own path, even imperfectly, than to perfectly follow someone else’s path. Living according to your true nature brings fulfillment, while blindly following another’s path often leads to fear and dissatisfaction.”
Those words stayed with Aman.
Discovering His Purpose. Aman had always loved painting, but he never considered it a real career. A few months later, he visited a village facing serious problems—broken roads, water shortages, and daily struggles.
Deeply moved, he painted what he saw. The artwork spread across social media and attracted public attention.
Soon, local authorities took notice and began improving conditions in the village.
For the first time, Aman realized that his talent could create real change. The Real Meaning of Success
As his work gained recognition, new opportunities arrived. But now Aman understood something important:
Success is not just about a job title, money, or social status. True success is using your unique abilities to make a positive difference and living in alignment with your purpose. Because in the end, the greatest victory is not becoming what others expect you to be—It is becoming who you were meant to be. ✨
